Apple pie contest
Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Pioneer Bank is inviting amateur bakers in the Capital Region to sign up for an apple pie contest on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The event will take place at Bowman Orchards on Sugar Hill Road in Rexford.

Judging by a panel made up of Bobby Mallozzi, proprietor of Villa Italia and Mallozzi’s Banquet Hall, along with media members, will begin at 10:15 a.m.

Pies will be awarded points based on flavor, consistency of filling, doneness, moistness, color, texture and overall appearance and presentation of pie.

The pie judged worthy of the grand prize will earn its amateur baker $450.
