Devils vs.Providence: Kinkaid helps Albany to 3-1 win over Bruins

— Keith Kinkaid turned aside 37 shots to lead the Albany Devils to their third straight victory, a 3-1 decision over the Providence Bruins Sunday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Kinkaid, a former standout at Union College, improved his

record to 13-12-1.

Stephane Veilleux gave the Devils a 1-0 advantage at 3:39 of the first period with a power-play goal, his 11th score of the season. Mattias Tedenby and Nick Palmieri

assisted on the goal.

Albany’s Tim Sestito scored his fifth goal less than three minutes later, unassisted.

After a scoreless second period, the Bruins’ Jamie Tardif tallied his 12th of the season at 15:19 of the third period to narrow Providence’s deficit to 2-1. Josh Hennessy and Calle Ridderwall got assists.

Vladimir Zharkov closed out the scoring with his eighth goal, an empty-netter, at 18:57, on an assist by Brad Mills.

The Devils return to the Times Union Center for a three-game homestand beginning Wednesday night against Syracuse. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton comes in Saturday, and Binghamton visits on Sunday.
