And on the other side you have Barack Hussein Obama. If we gave tests in 2008 I guarantee you that 60% of those that voted for Obama would be disqualified.

uhhhhh....separation of church and state? can someone please explain to me why if we are separating church and state, the shrine has to charge sales tax on the religious items sold in the gift store. If we are separating church and state should not the government be shunning the sales tax they are receiving from the shrine? Just sayin'

Separation of church and state means the state shouldn't influence what the church preaches, and the church shouldn't influence the laws the state passes. But a sale is a sale, and the law says you have to pay taxes on sales. Could you imagine if everything done for the sake of religion was immune from the law? That would be a scary world.

The Shrine does not pay sales tax, visitors to the Shrine pay sales tax for the trinkets in the gift shop. The visitors are not tax exempt. The Shrine acts only as intermediary, passing the sales on to the taxing authority.

The Shrine did the right thing, can' t say the same for the stubborn Montgomery County Board of Superviors. Now THEY can go fly a kite!
