— The owners of Wheatfields Restaurant in Saratoga Springs are planning to open a similar establishment in Clifton Park, according to drawings filed with the town Planning Department.

Colleen and Tim Holmes own the eatery on Broadway in Saratoga Springs, which opened in 1988 and specializes in freshly made pastas.

According to the plans filed in Clifton Park, the new restaurant would be located in 5,100 square feet of currently vacant space in the Crossing Shopping Center. The storefront is located between the Mr. Sub shop and Exit 9 Wine and Liquor Warehouse.

Plans call for 168 seats inside the restaurant and 36 outdoor seats opened seasonally.

Town planners said a variance will be needed to open the patio area to customers. The plan will be discussed by the Planning Board on Nov. 25.
