River Rats rally past Sound Tigers

— Michael Ryan, signed two days earlier by the parent Carolina Hurricanes, scored the game-winning goal late in the third period and also had two assists Sunday to help the Albany River Rats rally for a 4-3 AHL victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The Rats were down, 3-0, in the second period.

Ryan set up Brett Carson’s goal late in the second, and then assisted on Nick Dodge’s goal with 7:27 left in the third period. Nicolas Blanchard tied it 1:14 later.

Ryan broke the tie with 2:21 left.

Before the game, the Hurricanes recalled forward Patrick Dwyer.
