Gun ‘buy back’ program isn’t the solution, but ministry needs to start somewhere
Re July 31 online letter by Barry Groat, “Only humans can stop humans from committing violence; eliminating weapons isn’t enough”: We are appalled by such a scathing commentary concerning someone about whose ministry the writer hasn’t a clue.
Pastor Charlie Muller’s ministry needs no vindication. His faithfulness to God’s calling stands on its own. However, let us enlighten you concerning this ministry. Pastor Charlie works tirelessly feeding children in Albany, bringing not only food for the body but for the soul. If you’re in the hospital, lose a loved one, or need counsel, he’s there. He’s praying, studying and preparing church services and radio broadcasts to spread the Gospel. He has a heart and passion for people to know the love of God that is unparalleled. We have never seen the love of God demonstrated anywhere as clearly as at Victory Christian Church and through Pastor Muller.
Concerning guns, we are aware that gun “buy back” programs are not the solution. However, as a result of the program in Albany, hope and faith are building in the community. Where there was helplessness and defeat, there is now hope. They have provided a step toward changing the lives of children who suffer from “the loss of God in our schools.” Isn’t that what Jesus would do?
Pastor Charlie is condemned as a “spiritual” leader denying his calling and demeaning the Gospel. Neither are true. No one knows better than Pastor Charlie the enormity of the problem and is trying to make an everlasting change in Albany. We challenge you, Barry, to follow Pastor Charlie around for just one day and see for yourself what God is doing in Albany.
