Engagement: Carpenter and Cervoni

William and Donna Van Sleet of Latham and Joseph Carpenter of Altamont announce the engagement of their daughter, Dawn C. Carpenter to Kevin L. Cervoni, son of Louis and Susan Cervoni of Rotterdam.
The future bride is a graduate of Berne-Knox-Westerlo Jr/Sr High School and the University of New Hampshire. She is employed by the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance.
Her fiance is a graduate of Mohonasen High School, Hudson Valley Community College and Schenectady County Community College. He is employed by General Electric.
A May 2009 wedding is planned.

Engagement: Stomski and Carignan

Ms. Susan B. Simmons of North Hebron and Mr. Jon C. Stomski of Ballston Spa, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Ms. Heather L. Stomski to Mr. Christian J. Carignan.
A wedding in early September 2008 is planned.

Engagement: Zuckerman and Smith

Linda and Gordon Zucker-man of Niskayuna, NY are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Miriam, to Michael Smith, son of Michele Smith of Schenectady, NY and the late William C. Smith III.
Miriam is a graduate of Niskayuna High School and has her master’s degree in childhood education from Sage Graduate School. She is currently employed by the Schenectady City School District.
Michael is a graduate of Mohonasen High School, and is employed by Pratt Plumbing and Heating.
The wedding and reception will be held at the Century House in Latham in August.

Engagement: McCullough and McCrief

William and Kathleen McCullough of Scotia announce the engagement of their daughter, Colleen McCullough to Jeff McCrief, son of Lawrence and Lisa McCrief of Trophy Club, TX and Kim and Ron Hodgkinson of Bedford, TX.
The future bride is a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and received her bachelor’s degree form Russell Sage College. She received her master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University in Houston. She is a registered dietitian at Michael E. DeBakey Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Houston.
Her fiance is a graduate of Euless Trinity High School in Bedford, TX and received his bachelor’s degree from Austin College in Sherman, TX. He is employed at Stern Empire Dental Laboratory in Houston, as a marketing and sales specialist.
An October wedding is planned in Las Vegas.

Engagement: McDermott and Loatman

Michael and Claire McDermott of Scotia announce the engagement of their daughter, Erin McDermott to Matthew Loatman, son of Edmund and Victoria Loatman of Poestenkill.
The future bride is a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School, Elmira College and Sage Graduation School. She is a special education teacher in the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District.
Her fiance is a graduate of LaSalle Institute of Troy, Siena College and Sage Graduate School. He is C.F.O. of Research Works, Inc.
A December 2008 wedding is planned.

Engagement: Warner and Martinec

Mary Ann Warner and Joseph F. Martinec have announced their engagement. Mary Ann is the daughter of Harriet Warner of Albany and the late Harold Warner. Joseph is the son of Lucille T. Martinec of Scotia and the late Joseph E. Martinec.
The future bride is a graduate of Fort Plain Central High School and Albany Occupational Center School of Practical Nursing.
Her fiance is a graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School and Bryant Business College.
A May 2009 wedding is planned.

Donald and Regina Parker 60th Anniversary
Anniversary: Parker

Donald and Regina Parker of Niskayuna celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii, followed by a family celebration at Angelo’s 677 Prime Restaurant in Albany upon their return. They were married June 5, 1948 at St. Adalbert’s Church in Schenectady.
The Parkers have two loving children, Donald Jr. (Joanne) and Diane Friedman (Michael). They also have three handsome grandsons, Daniel Olson, Donald III, and David Parker. The couple has followed their grandsons athletic achievements throughout their school and college years.
Don and Regina are graduates of Mont Pleasant High School. Don, a veteran of the Navy, attended Hudson Valley Community College and Union College and held the position of analyst with Verizon, when he retired in 1989. Regina was secretary to the head of GE Metallurgy Department and Aeronautics and Ordnance. After taking a break to raise their children, Regina held positions at the Music Department of the University at Albany, until retiring in 1989.
The couple met at Cain’s Castle in Schenectady and have been dancing ever since. They are members of the Benedicts and Cotillion Ballroom Dinner Dance Clubs and the Elks. They also enjoyed their vacation homes on Sacandaga Lake for 54 years; traveling in the U.S., and extensively throughout Europe and cruises to the Caribbean and Hawaii.

Joseph and Virginia Zalucki 50th Anniversary

Joseph and Virginia Zalucki of Guilderland recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner dance with family and friends at the Mohawk Golf Club, hosted by their children and grandchildren
The couple were married June 28, 1958 at St. Adalbert’s Church, Schenectady, NY.
The former Virginia Opitz graduated from Draper High School. She is an office manager at Zalucki and Halstead, CPA’s.
Her husband graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, Bryant and Syracuse Universities. He is a certified public accountant at Zalucki and Halstead, CPA’s.
Their children are Dr. James Zalucki of Ellicott City, MD, Robert Zalucki of Fairfield, CT., Richard Zalucki of Ballston Lake, NY and Sandra Dardanelli of Scotia, NY. Grandchildren are Johnathan, Nicholas and Alina Zalucki of Fairfield, CT; Emily, Abby and Samantha Zalucki of Ellicott City, MD; and Mitchell and Mia Dardanelli of Scotia, NY.
Special guests were both mothers of Joseph and Virginia, Helen Opitz and Henrietta Zalucki and our Aunt Mary Predel. Music was provided by Grammy Award winning Jimmy Sturr Orchestra.
The couple’s 50th anniversary was recognized and blessed at a Mass at St. Gabriel’s Church by Father James Belogi.

John and Mildred Avery 60th Anniversary

John and Mildred Avery of Schenectady, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their favorite restaurant, Canali’s in Rotterdam, and hosted by their children.
The couple were married July 2, 1948 in Glenville.
The former Mildred Clute retired in 1985. She was a store clerk. She enjoys reading and going to casino’s.
Her husband served in the the Navy from 1943-1946. He retired in 1997 from the IBEW #1249. He enjoys going to casino’s and working on cars.

Bob and Connie Ottaviano 50th Anniversary
Anniversary: Ottaviano

Bob and Connie Ottaviano of Glenville recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with the renewal of their marriage vows at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville, and also received a papal blessing from Pope Benedict XVI. They celebrated their special occasion with a trip to National Parks in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada, visiting the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion Canyon, Lake Powell, Las Vegas and other places.
The couple were married on June 5, 1958 at St. John the Baptist Church in Schenectady.
Bob and Connie are both graduates of Nott Terrace High School. Bob received his BS and MS degrees in civil engineering from Union College and is a licensed professional engineer. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1958-1960. Bob is retired from the New York State Department of Transportation. He enjoys traveling, gardening, hiking, hunting and especially playing with his grandchildren and family.
Connie worked for Assemblyman Clark C. Wemple for 12 years, and retired as a secretary for the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District. She is a volunteer at Sunnyview Hospital, the Glendale Nursing Home, a member of the MeloDears, and enjoys traveling, singing, knitting and cooking for her family.
Their children are Robert, Kathie (John) Vlainich, and Debora (Donald) Catharine. Their grandchildren are Connie, Victoria, Nina, Robert, Juliet, Gabrielle, Gavin, Jason, Danny and Amanda.
